What’s is “BOOing”?
Booing is an exciting fall tradition, where neighbors/friends put together a fun goodie bag and deliver it to the front porch of someone they want to do something nice for. The treat bag is typically accompanied by a cute note that encourages the BOOee to keep the fun going by doing the same for someone else. The other important piece of this activity which makes it so exciting, is to not get caught in your task of BOOing. It’s pretty much an adult version of Ding-Dong-Ditch that leaves the receiver surprised and cheerful instead of annoyed or hot-tempered.
How to Incorporate BOOing into your Business
There are multiple ways to adapt this activity to your business style. You can go as big or small as you want with it. Do grand displays or a scaled down size. You can advertise to just personal residences or give back to your community by fundraising alongside your schools and/or associations. How you BOO is completely up to you! We at Yard Card Supply are here to support you along the way. We have flyers, advertising graphics, and even a document drawn up to help you pitch to your fundraising partners.
What Should I Do for Treats?
The possibilities are boundless. You can even offer multiple options at different price points.
- Want to go big with it? Partner with a local baker or bakery for a cupcake or gourmet cookie upgrade option. Then promote each other to widen both of your audiences.
- Keeping it simple? A bag of simple Trick-or-treat candy bag works perfect. Get a large mixed bag from a big box store and weigh it out evenly into small treat bags.
- Worried about food allergies? Consider offering non-edible item treat bags filled with novelties such as slap bracelets, glow-in-the-dark bracelets, glow sticks, stickers, fidget toys, vampire teeth, temporary tattoos, etc.
- Or let your customers decide. Offer all of the above at separate price points, or as add-ons to up-sell!
